How We Grade Height

For the most part we grade height per the American Nursery Standard, which is the middle of the center leader of the tree. there are times that we "give" more height if the tops of the trees are excessively thin with branching.

How to choose the height of tree you need? if you are looking to plant conifers for screening purposes? for best results you should get a tree that is 40% taller than the height of what your trying to block, for example, if you need to block 10ft you should get a 14ft tree, this way you get the dense and width from the tree to provide the desired cover.
